David Leung, MD, MS is a gastroenterologist, advanced and therapeutic endoscopist at Bhatti GI, specializing in the endoscopic management of obesity. He received his bachelor's degree from Union College in Schenectady, New York, and a Master's in Healthcare Management from Clarkson University, followed by his medical degree from Albany Medical College in Albany, New York. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego, California, where he served as Chief Resident, followed by a fellowship in Gastroenterology at Scripps Clinic and Scripps Green Hospital in La Jolla, California, where he was named Chief Fellow in his final year. He went on to complete an additional fellowship in Advanced/Therapeutic Endoscopy at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, with a focused emphasis on Bariatric Endoscopy. Prior to joining Bhatti GI, he practiced at Hennepin Healthcare in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

At Bhatti GI, Dr. Leung is helping to build a comprehensive weight loss program for the Twin Cities, bringing together the full spectrum of endoscopic, medical, and surgical weight loss options with a patient-centered approach. He meets patients wherever they are in their weight loss journey, taking into account their full history of prior attempts and approaches when guiding next steps - working closely with the practice's bariatric surgeons and weight management team to help each patient find the therapy best suited to their goals. He has particular expertise in managing weight regain following prior endoscopic or surgical bariatric procedures, including revision therapies such as repeat ESG and TORe. He also has interests in innovative treatments for GERD, early luminal GI cancers, and diagnostic and therapeutic EUS and ERCP. Dr. Leung enjoys working closely with patients, educating them on the range of therapy options available so they can choose the path that best fits their lifestyle and goals.

He is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM), and is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), and American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE).
